WHEN TO VISIT
July is the hottest month in Washington DC with an average temperature of 27°C (80°F) and the coldest is January at 4°C (38°F) with the most daily sunshine hours at 9 in July. The wettest month is May with an average of 100mm of rain. I visited Washington DC at the end of August and I think it was a really good idea, just before the a Congress starts its session.
DISCOVER THE CITY (if you only have one day)
THE WHITE HOUSE
Absolutely beautiful and breath taking. To think of all the Presidents that walked those grounds, that lived in that house and all the important leaders of the world that have visited here is just amazing. Absolutely must see in Washington.
Washington Monument and National Mal
Incredible! The whole national mall is beautiful and rich full of history and tributes. Hours here just fly by like seconds. I loved every minute of it.
The Lincoln Monument is really amazing. There are always a lot of tourists there, but even just from the stairs you have a magnificent view of the reflecting pool. The exterior of the building is very intimidating and grand, and the inside lays the massive statue of Abraham Lincoln sitting.
The US Capitol
The building it's magical and impressive. What a piece of art. The history is just amazing. Being able to see it was such an honor and a time for reflection.
Arlington National Cemetary
Military cemetery featuring JFK’s eternal flame, Memorial Amphitheater & Tomb of the Unknowns. President John Fitzgerald Kennedy Gravesite is a place you must visit. To me personally it was the great honor to actually be there and experience the moment that I will never forget. I would have never imagined this in my entire life that I will see it on my own.
